Eagles get on track in Waynesboro for first win

The Clarke County Eagles (1-2) broke the ice as they won their first game of the season with a convincing 49-7 win at Waynesboro (0-4). The game was played on Thursday night for cautionary reasons due to Hurricane Florence.*

The Eagles Peyton Rutherford rushed for 176 yards on 12 carries and scored three times on the night.

The Eagles scored on their opening drive and never looked  back, leading 42-0 at the half.

Quarterback Colby Childs was 8 of 11 for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns. Danny Lyman caught both touchdowns of 65 and 50 yards. Childs also added a touchdown on the ground. Evan Nichols scored the final touchdown for Clarke.

Clarke produced 427 yards offense, 284 rushing, 143 passing to Waynesboro's 205. 201 rushing, 4 passing.

The Eagles return home to "the Felt" on Friday night to host the Washington WV Patriots. Kickoff is set for 7:30PM at Wilbur M. Feltner Stadium on Westwood Road in Berryville.  It is the Eagles Homecoming.

Clarke County Sports senior photographer Doug Aylestock was on hand for photographic coverage. The Game of the Week will resume this weekend when the Washington, WV Patriots come to "the Felt". Friday is the Eagles Homecoming.

Eagles football game switched to Thursday

BLUEMONT, Va.-  Clarke County High School Athletic Director Casey Childs announced yesterday that the Eagles game at Waynesboro High School has been changed to Thursday night at 7:00PM due to the impending bad weather, any changes will be announced.

Eagles adjust to slay Little Giants

BERRYVILLE, Va.- The Clarke County Eagles hosted the Waynesboro Little Giants Friday night at Wilbur M. Feltner Stadium in Berryville. The Eagles had their hands full in the first half and went into the locker room leading 21-14 at the half.

Waynesboro tied the game on their opening drive of the second half but the Eagles made adjustments and pulled away with a 42-21 victory to move to 4-0.

Sophomore running back Peyton Rogers rushed for 344 yards on 32 carries and scored 5 touchdown to pace the Eagles. Kyle Baylor added a 65 yard punt return to round out the scoring.
