BERRYVILLE, Va.- The Clarke County Eagles fell to the James Wood Colonels 44-3 in the season opener at the Felt. The Eagles Drake Barton connected on a 40 yard field goal for the Eagles only score. Game highlights, interviews, and more..

The 24 hour delay did not seem to hamper the Eagles in any fashion.
"It was hard for all of us to come and sit here for three hours."Eagles Running back Wyatt Palmer said. "It was hot, exhausting, none of us wanted to do it, but we stayed focus and came locked in."
The Eagles scored on their first drive when Wilson Taylor went around the left end and raced untouched for the opening drive's score.
Palmer scored the next three times on runs of 25, 76, and 46 and ended up with 165 yards.

Rock Ridge got their lone touchdown near the end of the first quarter, after the Eagles had already put the game out of reach.
Tanner Sipe passed for 78 yards on 3 of 5 and 1 touchdown. A 53 yard strike to Lincoln Booker. Sipe also rushed for a score.
The Eagles also got scores from Will Witta and Brayden Roper. Witta from one yard and Roper took a run 67 yards to the house.
Carson Chinn had an interception and continues to lead the Eagles in tackles. Joseph Stem, and Brandon O'Bannion all had strong games, as did the entire team.
Drake Barton was 7 of 8 on extra points.
The Eagles will travel to King William on Friday to face the King William Cavaliers. The Eagles defeated the Cav's last year at the felt 34-7, but this years game is expected to be much closer.
"We are excited about the opportunity,"Head Coach Casey Childs said. "It's the kind of game you want to play in. It's two of the best 2A programs in the state. These are the kind of games you sign up to play in."

BERRYVILLE,Va.- The2024 Clarke County High School Varsity Football Captains took time after practice today to speak with Moe Murphy of Clarke County Sports about the upcoming 2024 season. The four seniors have been mainstays in the Clarke County Eagle football program for several seasons.

BERRYVILLE, Va.- The Clarke County Eagles JV and Varsity football teams scrimmaged on Friday against the James Wood Colonels. The scrimmage wraps up the summer practices and the Eagles will travel to Ashburn on Thursday, 8/29/2024 to face the Rock Ridge Phoenix. The Eagles defeated the Phoenix 42-7 last year to open their season.

STERLING, Va.- The Clarke County Eagles Football Program travelled to Sterling on Thursday to face the Dominion Titans in their first scrimmage of the 2024 season. Varsity, JV, and Freshman all made the trip and faced off in controlled scrimmages.
The Eagles looked fairly sharp, however several shotgun snaps failed to hit the spot and will need to be corrected.

BERRYVILLE, Va.- The Clarke County Eagle Football Team opened their 2024 season with three days of helmet only conditioning practice held at the High School.
"We are known for a lot of things." Eagles head coach Casey Childs told the team after practice on Saturday. "The single wing, winning a lot of football games and being hard. We are hard. You guys showed it out here the last three days."
Clarke County Sports and Doug Aylestock were on hand for the three days and compiled a short documentary capturing the action and atmosphere.
The team will be off Sunday and will return on Monday morning at 8:00 for the first of two practices, an afternoon session will be held from 1:00-3:00PM.

WOODSTOCK, Va.- The Riverhead Gladiators gained revenge for an earlier 8-7 loss to the Central Falcons as the defeated Central 41-14 to capture the VHSL AA Region B Championship held at Central High School. "We played 6 games at home last season, and things definitely evened out this year, and we will have to adjust to playing away games." Eagles Head Coach Casey Childs said earlier.
The Eagles start off on a Thursday night as they travel to Ashburn to face the Rock Ridge Phoenix. The Eagles got an opening season home win last year against the Phoenix. Five of the first seven games are on the road.
Week 2 is the longest trip of the year as the Eagles will face the King William Cavaliers in the final game of a two year contract. Rock Ridge, Buffalo Gap and Catoctin, MD also are in the second year of a two year contract.
The Hall of Fame Game and Little League Night have been combined and will be played September 13 at the Felt as Buffalo Gap visits the Eagles. Homecoming will be October 4 as Catoctin, MD comes to the Felt, and Senior Night is against Luray on November 1.
Notable this year is the lack of a West Virginia team in the scrimmage or regular season. The Eagles have been scrimmaging Jefferson County, WV for several years and before that scrimmaged Washington and Musselmen, and Berkeley Springs.
This season the Eagles will scrimmage Dominion (Loudoun County) and James Wood.
"We just decided to move in a different direction with our scrimmage's and are excited to face Dominion and James Wood" Childs said.
2024 Bull Run District Football Schedule
HARRISONBURG, Va.- Several members of the Clarke County Eagles Boys and Girls track team competed in day 2 of the VHSL AA State Track & Field Championships held on Saturday at Sentara Park Athletic Complex on the campus of James Madison University. Moe Murphy of Clarke County Sports was on hand to capture the action.
STAUNTON, Va.- The Clarke County Eagles competed in the VHSL AA Region B Championships on Thursday and came away with 2 individual and one team championship.
The girls finished in 2nd overall behind Fort Defiance, and the boys came in 4th behind, Stuarts Draft, Riverheads and edged out for 3rd by 2 1/2 points to Mountain View.
"We had a few competitors missing for the boys team, but everybody competed hard and we had some good performances." Eagles Head Coach Andre Kidrick said. "Not having anyone competing in the Pole Vault always costs us points right off the bat."

Will Booker Record Breaking JumpEmmalene Morris was one of three competitors selected for the Girls Meet MVP. Morris accounted for 22.5 points placing 2nd in the 100 Hurdles, and high jump, 5th in the 200 meters, and was the anchor leg of the 4X100 relay team that captured the Championship trophy. The other members of the relay team were Robyn Preston, Alainah McCavish, and Regan Myers with a time of 52.42, edging out Stuart's Draft.
Haley Foltz captured 1st place in the the girls discus with a throw of 102' 11" the only female to break 100'.
"Some people hit it in the Districts, and others placed well in the regionals, we have to step up and have everybody's best performance at JMU this weekend.
Several other Eagles had medal winning performances to help to contribute to the high team scores.

VHSL AA Region B Track Results
STRASBURG, Va.- The Clarke County Eagles (6-2, 1-2) saw their chance to host a first round VHSL 2A Region B football playoff game washed out on a rain soaked Glenn Proctor Field, when the Strasburg Rams (7-1, 3-0) scored on 6 out of 6 drives with 5 touchdowns and a field goal knocking the Eagles down 38-12.

BERRYVILLE, Va.- The Clarke County Eagles defeat the Page County Panthers 54-0 at the Felt for Homecoming 2023. The Eagles got rushing touchdowns from Carson Rutherford, Wyatt TR Palmer, Tanner Sipe, Moses Day, Will Booker, Wilson Taylor, and Jason Poole along with a punt returned for a TD by Landon Roper. Wesley Beiler hit 6 pat's, had a touchback and made an interception deep in Eagle territory to secure the shut out. The Win moves the eagles to 6-1. They travel next Friday to Glenn Proctor Field at Rams Stadium to face their biggest rival, the Strasburg Rams. Check back for more game and Homecoming coverage.
BERRYVILLE, Va.- The Clarke County Eagles 5 game win streak came to an end Friday night at Wilbur M. Feltner Stadium as Distict Rival Central remained unbeaten with a 20-7 victory over the Eagles in nothing more than straight out smash mouth Football. Will Booker had the lone score for the Eagles racing around the right end and going down the sidelines for the score. Check back for more coverage.

THURMONT, Md.- The Clarke County Eagles defeated the Catoctin Cougars 21-14 at Cougar Stadium last Friday night. The win moves the Eagles to 5-0. Clarke County returns home on Friday to open their Bull Run District schedule hosting last years Bull Run, Reg B Champions and State runner up the Central Falcons who are also undefeated.
THURMONT, Md.- The Clarke County Eagles travelled to the Old Line State to face the Catoctin Cougars in Interstate High School Football. Will Booker scored twice and one two point conversion, and Wilson Taylor added another score.

BERRYVILLE, Va.- The Clarke County Eagles moved to 4-0 with a non Bull Run District game, with a 40-7 victory over the Warren County Wildcats at Wilbur M. Feltner Stadium on CCYFL Youth Night.
The Eagles have a bye before travelling to Maryland to play Catoctin.
