The Eagles will have 2 scrimmages this season, traveling to Shenandoah Junction, WV for their annual scrimmage against the Jefferson County Cougars on Aug 12 at 6:00PM and the returning to the Felt on Aug. 18 to scrimmage Berkeley Springs, WV.
"Having 2 scrimmages this year will help as we will have a lot of youth on the field and we will need a lot of reps for our guys to get up to speed," Childs said. "Jefferson always presents a great challenge with their size and athleticism at the skill position. We were able to get Berkeley Springs back on board this year as that was an annual matchup for a number of years. "
The Eagles open at the Felt on Aug 26 against the Warren County Wildcats. The remainder of the opponents match last years teams with 4 non district games, along with the Wildcats the Eagles will again face Manassas Park and Meridian (formerly George Mason).
The Eagles add a new opponent this year as the travel to South Riding to face third year Lightridge High School to replace the vacancy left when Mountain View (formerly Stonewall Jackson) dropped out of football for the 2022 season.
"Lightridge came into the schedule when Mountain. View opted out of varsity football mid cycle which left a hole for many of the schools within the Bull Run," Childs said. "We thought we had the date filled on a couple different occasions but all fell through. Lightridge AD [Jason Treon] and I were able to work the date into both of our schedules and the game came into fruition. Certainly a tough road contest against a school from Loudoun."
In their six road games the Eagles will travel approximately 758 miles round trip. The one thing Clarke County has going for them is they always have strong fan support no matter how far the Eagle Faithful have to travel.
