Clarke County handles Washington on Homecoming

BERRYVILLE, Va.-  The Clarke County Eagles defeated the Washington, WV Patriots 45-8 on homecoming at "the Felt". Peyton Rutherford had another big night, as did Kyle Baylor.

The Eagles turned the ball over early deep in their own territory, but the Eagles defense was able to get a fumble recovery at the one.

"That was a very big play, and we were fortunate." Eagles coach Chris Parker said, "Momentum just wasn't going our way in the beginning, and then we turned it around."

Peyton Rutherford added three touchdowns and gained 178 yards rushing on 24 carries. Kyle Baylor added 90 and was intricate in causing several turnovers for the Eagles defense to capitalize on.

"This was a big game. it was homecoming and everyone was hyped," Baylor said. "I was just getting after everybody doing what I got to do."

Colby Childs had another solid night passing going 10 of  14 for 166 yards including a 38 yard touchdown pass to Trey Trenary.

Kicker Nick Bahamonde had 6 touchbacks, was 6 of 6 on extra points and 1 of 2 on field goals, just narrowly missing a 39 yard attempt wide right.

"I just pushed it right, it happens." Bahamonde said.

The Eagles move to 500 with the win and will face Warren County next week at "the Felt"  Kickoff is is set for 7:30PM
