Clarke County Sports Game of the Week Clarke Co 41 Berkeley Springs, WV 7

BERRYVILLE, VA (8/29/14)- The Clarke County Eagles opened their 2014 season with a convincing 41-7 victory over the Berkeley Springs Indians at Wilbur M. Feltner Stadium in Berryville.

"We started off slow, we really weren't playing very well in the first half in all phases of the game." Coach Chris Parker said. "I was really proud of our guys we stepped it up. It was 41 to 7 so you can't be to unhappy about that, but were gonna have to fix some things. We have a bye week before we face Stonewall Jackson."

The Eagles took a 12-0 lead to the locker room in the first half. Jordan Turner scored the first points for the Eagles with a 1 yard run. Sean McDonald then hit Justin Dulaney on a 3 yard pass. Both point after attempts were no good.

Turner had a good game going when he went down in the second half with an apparent shoulder injury. Several backs rotated in with McDonald and the Eagles line dominated on both sides of the ball. The Eagle defense kept the Indians off balance all night and had a shutout going late into the fourth quarter.

"I'm proud of some of the younger guys that stepped up," Eagles senior quarterback Sean McDonald said. "We have a lot of weapons and we showed that tonight."

In the second half the Eagles broke things open with Jaxon Ottobre going in from 10 yards out. McDonald added a 7 yard td run and 2 two point conversions. Hunter Rogers went in from 3 yards out and Chris Keim electrified the crowd with a 71 yard scamper down the Eagle sideline. Levi Mayo added the extra point for 41 points.

Coming off a 12-1 year and the playoffs the Eagles know that they have teams gunning to knock them off every week.

"Everyone is out to get us this year," running back Hunter Rogers said. "We just got to keep turning it up and showing what we got, Clarke Strong."

The Eagles have a bye this week and will then host the Stonewall Jackson (Quicksburg) Generals at Wilbur M. Feltner Stadium in Berryville. Kickoff is 7:30PM

The Eagle Sports Hall of Fame will hold it's 2014 induction ceremony at halftime of the game. Stay tuned to Clarke County Sports for more details on the inductees.
