Eagles run past rival Generals
By Stephen Boyle -- sports@nvdaily.com
BERRYVILLE -- Clarke County ran all over Stonewall Jackson to come up with a 35-7 win on Friday night.
The Eagles' only two punts came late in the fourth quarter with the game already in control. The Generals' loss, which drops them to 0-3 this season, was tough one for Coach Dick Krol to swallow.

ASHBURN, VA -When veteran tight end Chris Cooley announced his release from the Redskins late last month, it was done with the understanding that Cooley could find a starting job elsewhere.
"That’s what we’re doing at this time: giving him an opportunity to see if there is a chance for him to be a starter on another team in the National Football League," head coach Mike Shanahan explained at the time. "I would give him every opportunity to seek that opportunity out."

Warren topples Clarke
By Jeff Nations - jnations@nvdaily.com
FRONT ROYAL -- Warren County senior quarterback Tyler Post never counts on a two-touchdown spot from the Wildcats' defense.
Post, also part of that defense as a starting cornerback, realizes the offense is supposed to do the scoring. Not that he's complaining though, after Warren County's defense scored a pair of touchdowns and the special teams set up another in Friday night's 27-9 victory over visiting Clarke County.

Wildcats shut down Clarke County

FRONT ROYAL — No sooner had the snap went to a Clarke County back, and a swarm of maroon jerseys were ready to make a tackle.
When quarterback Sean McDonald went back to pass, he usually was flushed from the pocket and forced to throw on the run.
Whatever Clarke County tried, Warren County’s defense was ready to counter.
The Wildcats dominated the interior lines throughout their opening football game on Friday night, turning two of the four turnovers they forced into defensive touchdowns in a 27-9 rout at Blanton Stadium.
