Eagles honor seniors at Awards Banquet

BERRYVILLE, Va.-  The Clarke County Eagles Football Program held their 2019 Awards Banquet on Sunday at the High School in Berryville.

Eagles Head Coach Chris Parker led the program with opening statements and thank you's to the boosters, coaches, training staff and more...

Following the opening comments Parker and Coach Jon Novick introduced the players starting with the Freshmen and continuing through the seniors.

The Winchester Star All Area Awards, All Bull Run District, and All Region 2 B teams were then announced.

Each coached recognized a player in the Team Awards and finally Danny Lyman and Colby Childs were presented Game Balls that will appear in the CCHS Trophy case for Receiving and passing records.

The Entire Ceremony can be viewed below, as well as a photo screen show with the individual awards. Thanks To Jon Novick, Doug Aylestock, and Casey Childs in the assistance with this program.

Clarke County Sports Game of the Week (Basketball Pilot Episode)

BERRYVILLE, Va.- The Clarke County Eagles dropped a thriller to the Page County Panthers in a Bull Run Distict Varsity Basketball game played at Clarke County High School on Friday, January 17th.

Volkan Ergen led all scorers with 15 points. Colby Childs added 9 for the Eagles followed by Deonte Trammel with 8, and Ellis Nei and Jacob Weddle each added 4.

The Panthers were led by Chase Combs and Trey Knight with 10 each, Logan Rangle added 7, followed by Trevor Williams 5, Freddy Stidham  4, Ricky Campbell 3, and Dylan Hensley and W. Hensley each scored 2.

Clarke County Sports partners with Constant Contact for news updates

BLUEMONT, Va.-  Clarke County Sports is pleased to announce a partnership with Constant Contact to handle email subscription services for Clarke County Sports.

"This new partnership will allow us to rapidly send out articles, bulletins and other goodies to our subscribers."Clarke County Sports owner Moe Murphy said.

The list will become effective and be advertised for sign up on January 9, 2020.

At no time will the contents of the list be used for marketing, advertising or any use other than news from Clarke County Sports.

REDSKINS ANNOUNCE RON RIVERA AS HEAD COACH

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins today announced Ron Rivera as the team’s new head coach.

“After several meetings with Coach Rivera, it was clear he is the right person to bring winning football back to Washington D.C.,” said Dan Snyder, Washington Redskins Owner. “He is widely respected around the league as a man of great integrity and has proven to be one of the finest coaches in the country.”

With more than 20 years of coaching experience, Rivera is a passionate and skilled leader who has earned the respect of his players, coaching staff and the community. He most recently served as the head coach of the Carolina Panthers for nine seasons, where he led the team to three straight divisional titles and an appearance in Super Bowl 50. Rivera was also recognized twice as the NFL Coach of the Year by the Associated Press, in 2013 and in 2015.

“While I love the storied history of the franchise, I am focused on the future and excited for the opportunity to win football games with this talented young team,” said Rivera. “After meeting Dan Snyder, it was clear we are aligned in our passion for the game and he supports my vision to turn the team around. I look forward to surrounding myself with great people and getting to work.”
